• Build opportunities in the classroom to encourage self esteem and self image
• Maximize socialization in the classroom, amongst peers
• Use positive reinforcement
• Use positive body and language
• Promote inclusive environment, which includes community building (tribes)
• Plan for transitions and the role the student in the wheel chair play
• Establish rules and routines that can easily accommodate the student
• Classroom and school building must be able to accommodate student to easily move around
• Bending down and making eye contact with student
• Providing lowered shelves, for student to reach easily
• Easy storage for student to place personal belongings
• Be sure student is able to use bathroom independently or needs support (look into school board policy regarding this)
