Strategies

• If student is away form class or is having difficulty during class time to complete a task, allow student to complete it during recess or at home
• Allow extra time for student to complete work
• Notify child in advance as much as possible of sudden changes, or changes that will occur in the near future
• Set goals with parents and student on a weekly or monthly basis
• As a teacher become familiar with the type of bipolar your student has and what are the recommendations from the doctor
• Provide resources for parents on academic achievement, to assist their child in becoming successful in the classroom
• Ask parents questions, use parents as a resource, they are often a key resource
